Yes, yes, yes, I realise Im going stencil crazy at the moment, but it's something I'm enjoying exploring. It also makes a ncie change from doing anything too complicated. simple is beautiful afterall.

I'd be very suprised if it was a coincidence that you chose to do the exact same image?
It would be better cut out and sprayed somewhere as well - because it's technically not a stencil at the moment, it's just a template for a stencil.
Anyway,
If you want to experiment with stenciling then don't use a computer - or if you really have to, at least cut them out and have a go at spraying them, be ambitious.
Peace.

Yeah, it is just a template. I'm in the process of cutting it now. I don't think there is a 'stencil template' section on dA?

Well there isn't a stencil section either?
No matter.
Good luck with it.

You need to understand what underspray is and why its making your image look horrible before you can stop it from happening. It's simply when the spray paint blows underneath the stencil's edges so it fuzzes up all your clean lines.
So here's some tips to avoid it:
- Use some spray adhesive, spray it onto the underside of your stencil and press the stencil down gently onto whatever you are spraying onto, making sure everything is stuck down. And don't worry, as long as you don't use some industrial strength adhesive and you don't press it to hard into the surface it should peel off fine.
- Once you got the stencil stuck down nice, grab your can, and spray vertically down onto it - don't hold the nozzle down, spray in short sharp bursts until your satisfied with the coat. This is so the force of the spray is directed down, so it doesn't force the stencil to flap or anything. Wait for it to dry if you want to do another coat.
- Then gently peel the stencil off and theoretically you should have a nice clean image.
Obviously it isn't that simple - it takes alot of practice to get the technique right.
But stick with it and you'll be laughing.
Peace.

But the short answer is no - not any more than spray paint will.
Stencil's don't last forever, after enough sprays they will get ruined (varying on what your stencil is made out of).
Try using different materials and see what you like best, you want a comprimise between how easy it is to cut and how durable it is. I use a weird kind of tracing paper that is quite thick, but nice and easy to cut, that I pinch from my college - not sure exactly what its called or what it's thickness it is.
If you ever have any questions or anything about stencilling just drop me a message and I'll see if I can help.
Peace.
